Sports Premium

The DfE Vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is that ALL pupils leave primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. 

The Sport Premium funding has been provided to ensure impact against the following Objective and Indicators:   

Key indicators we expect improvement in include:  

  • the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school 
  • the profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement 
  • increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport 
  • broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils 
  • increased participation in competitive sport 

It is important to emphasise that the focus of spending must be sustainable and leave a lasting legacy beyond the funding allocation. 

St Mary and St Giles Church of England School’s vision is to use Sport Premium funding to create a school-wide culture that encourages all our children to enjoy physical activity and strive to live healthy, active lifestyles.  

We will endeavour to use the Sport Premium funding to make high-quality Physical Education and School Sport sustainable. Our CPD programme and strong links with external sport providers, local sports partnerships (MKSSP) and other schools in the IFtL MAT will help achieve this vision. 

The vast majority of our grant is spent each year on increasing participation and excellence in games and sport. Below you will find the annual report of the Governors which is submitted and published on this website to show how the money was spent.
