Welcome to St Mary and St Giles C of E School
Hello and a very warm welcome to St Mary and St Giles Church of England school website.
St Mary and St Giles Church of England school is determined to be placed at the very heart of our local community and I am very proud to be the head teacher here with a staff team which is fully supporting the improvement work of the school.
Our School Vision
"Our aim is for all to belong to a safe and happy community which celebrates our diversity and differences. Our children will be well prepared for the next step of their journey as responsible citizens. We aspire for all to flourish."
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
Every child is a gift from God – Psalm 127:3
This means that we will do all we can to support your child so that they can be their best and do their best.
We welcome all local children to our school, those with the Christian faith, those with other faiths and those who do not express any faith. All children are precious in our eyes and deserve to be treasured and supported in their growth, both academically and socially.
We want every child to be their best, to do their best and to feel that they belong to our school community.
Our aims are to…
•To create an innovative curriculum that is creative, engaging and purposeful for all children set in a real life context of Christ.
•To ensure excellence permeates every aspect of school life
•To develop resilient learners who take risks and learn from their mistakes
•To ignite a lifelong thirst for learning.
We have an identified five core values: Responsibility, Love, Thankfulness, Wisdom and Kindness.
These values are based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our point of reference is the Bible. Each half term the whole school will focus on one particular value to explore at a deeper level.
Whilst we believe that every child should achieve their full potential in the image of God, we are committed to ensuring we develop the whole child, linked to the Church of England’s vision July 2016 of “life in all its fullness”. We deliver a broad and exciting curriculum and a shared zest for life and learning
St Mary and St Giles School serves the children of Stony Stratford on two sites. Our south site on Galley Hill takes children from Nursery through to year 6 and serves Fullers Slade, Galley Hill and south Stony Stratford. Our north site takes children in Key Stage 2 only (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6).
As a school, we are fully committed to developing each child’s unique potential within a secure, safe, caring and supportive environment. We believe that our children should not only reach their best academically, but also enjoy an educational and personal journey which builds a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. We also believe that the children of St Mary and St Giles Church of England school should be happy and engaged learners, who work hard to reach the challenges set by their teachers.
We are proud of our place within our local community and we strive to not only provide the highest quality of education, but also to ensure that our school remains a hub of family and community activity which helps our children to be happy, successful and fulfilled individuals. We achieve this through listening to the children’s viewpoints, offering equal opportunities to all and through celebrating positive achievements. A sense of shared purpose is very important to us and we strive at all times to encourage strong links and dialogue between parents/carers, children, school, the wider local community and partner organisations.
We have a busy and supportive governing body, which we are very proud of, helping us drive forward the areas we feel will improve our school.
We hope you will be a regular visitor to our site and to our school. We are here for you and for your child. If there are any issues you require further information on please do not hesitate in contacting me at the school. If you would like to visit the school, please ring the office and arrange an appointment.
We hope you will find everything you need but if there is information you cannot find please contact the school office.
